Shouted the men in blue from the special tree
Tangkap! Tangkap! Tangkap!
You are under arrest and thrown into the lock-up.

It is wrong the men in uniform say
It is an offence the men in blue say
You have broken the law
For gathering outside the Perak State Assembly door
For eating and drinking
In a coffee shop talking
For answering back
For wearing black, or no black.

1, 2, 3. Tangkap! Tangkap! Tangkap!

It is an illegal assembly
For gathering in groups of more than five
For standing outside a station
For showing solidarity to the innocents inside the station
For trying to give legal aid to clients
Lawyers were themselves arrested and locked up with the clients.

1, 2, 3. Tangkap! Tangkap! Tangkap!

What is wrong?
To sing a happy birthday song?
To light a candle one day?
And wish someone happy birthday?
What crime have these people committed?
To be arrested and their freedom forfeited?

The answer my countrymen
Lies at the whims and fancies of the uniformed men
If you do not do as they say
If you do not obey what they say.
