No Way Through the ISA Jungle

No Way Through the ISA Jungle

They shut the road to freedom
Through the law of the jungle
Fifty years ago
With the Internal Security Act.

And now you would never know
There was once a road to freedom
Through the political jungle
Before they planted the special branch
Under the police and the home ministry.

Only the keen observer sees
That, where the anti-ISA protesters stood,
Against the FRU men with batons charging,
And the acid rain from the water canon,
There was once a road to freedom through the political jungle.

Yet, if you enter the political jungle
From an opposition gate,
Be ready for the night-air spent in the stench of lock-up stools,
All for speaking out against injustice.

Yet the courageous dare to don black in protest,
Fearing neither the police,
Beatings nor arrests.

You will hear the crackling of Najib's whip,
Beneath the swish of his wife's skirt in the Mongolian slew,
Striking down the opponents swiftly
With the draconian ISA Act,
As they blatantly abuse
The old ISA road through the political jungle.
Knowing that there is no road to freedom through the ISA jungle.

It is time NOW
And we MUST
Cut down the ISA jungle!

*N/B: Written on the fiftieth anniversary of the Internal Security Act, implemented for use against the Malayan communists during the insurgency, but is abused by the BN led government as a tool against political opponents and dissidents

Yikes! It's Frogs Leaping Time!

Two tadpoles living in adjacent ponds
Wakil rakyats
Of the northern courtyards

Thrusting their thirsty tongues here and there
Amphibians as they were to find
Not enough water and insects in the ponds to dine

For they aim to grow fat
Reaching for more wriggling worms beyond the tiny lily pad
Off they leaped
Grabbing their new paymaster's fishing rod
Shaking off their tails to reveal they are nothing but ugly toads.

Trust Me

"Trust me!"
Said the crafty crocodile
Laying half submerged in the water
Its eyes glistering
Mouth wide open
Bearing sharp fangs

"Trust me!"
Said the arrogant Perkasa crocodile
"BN mampu berubah"
We have a master plan
"STOP"
BN Selangor Take Over Plan
"PRU 13"

"Be grateful!"
Berated the crossed BN crocodile
"Non Malays must be grateful to the Malays
For granting you citizenship"
because you are "pendatang"
"The Indians came to this country to beg
The Chinese especially the women came to sell their bodies"

The crocodile crunched its mouth tightly
Swished its tail mightily
Splashing the water
Scooping
Swallowing up the unawaken rakyat.

Do you still trust BN?
It has been plundering openly from the people for over fifty years
With its wide sly eyes
Tyrannosaurous teeth
And harden hides.

Dont Cry For Me Reformasi

It won't be easy
You'll think it strange
When I try to explain how I feel
That I still need your love
After these turbulent years
You won't believe me
All you will see is a girl you once knew
Although she's dressed up to the nines
At sixes and sevens with you

I had to let it happen
I had to change
Couldn't stay all my life down at heel
Looking out of the window
Staying out of the sun
So I chose REFORMASI
Running around trying everything new
But nothing impressed me at all
I never expected it to

Don't cry for me Reformasi
The truth is I never left you
All through my wild days
My mad existence
I kept my promise
Don't keep your distance

And as for fortune and as for fame
I never invited them in
Though it seemed to the world they were all I desired
They are illusions
They're not the solutions they promised to be
The answer was here all the time
I love you and hope you love me

Don't cry for me Reformasi

Don't cry for me Reformasi
The truth is I never left you
All through my wild days
My mad existence
I kept my promise
Don't keep your distance

Have I said too much?
There's nothing more I can think of
To say to you
But all you have to do is look at me to know
That every word is true

The Death Knell of 1 Malaysia

Where is the leadership of 1 Malaysia PM?
When religious fanaticism could have been preempted?
When churches could be spared from arson?
When the holy places of worship are trampled upon?
When the peope's faith is tested to the limits?

What is in a name?
Be it God
Or Allah?

God IS Allah!
Say the Christians
Who have worshiped in Malay for centuries
In the
Land Beneath the Wind
And where hornbills unwind

But your God is not my "Allah "!
Some pride was pricked
Proclaiming monopoly on "Allah"
When the high court ruled
'Allah' could be used by the Christians.

Headlines howled hysterically

Clarion calls cried crossly
Drums rolled
Vociferous voices volleyed into a vortex.

The prime minister said he could do NOTHING
To stop people from demonstrating.
The home minister echoed the same thing.
The government of the day did NOTHING!
Waiting and baiting.

Emboldened,
With the backing of their masters
Blood thirsty hounds
Bare their fangs
Scouting for victims.

In the unearthly quiet of that night
A loud sound exploded
Shattering the silence of the night.
A church was firebombed
Gutting the Metro Tabernacle

Turning it overnight into a charred chapel.
That no life was lost was a miracle.

After the Friday prayers
Boldly brandishing banners
Pretentious pious people protested
Screaming shouting slogans
"Bakar gereja!"

And again the authorities did NOTHING!
Nine churches were torched, despoiled
Scarring the spirit of parishioners
Leaving the people in black despair
Seething in white anger
Yet the sinners were forgiven
By the magnanimity of the unshaken in their faith.

REPAIR, REBUILD AND RETURN
The people their rightful places of worship!
For God or Allah
Is just a word.
No word alone
Can shake the beliefs of the true believers.
No violence
Can chase anyone out of the House of God.

STOP all destructions in the name of humanity!
THIS IS TERRORISM!

Surely Islam does not preach violence and terrorsim!
Surely goodness and mercy should follow us all of our lives.
Religious tolerance and peaceful co-existence is the ONLY WAY!

The people shall never forget
The eighth day of the New Year
The day we bury

1 Malaysia
FOR GOOD!

1 Malaysia is but a soulless slogan!
1 Malaysia is but an empty meaningless mind game!
1 Malaysia is but the nemesis of 1 nincompoop man!
1 Malaysia is but the figment of 1 FAILED MALAYSIAN!
1 Malaysia is but the slimy sneaky snake of 1 SHAME MALAYSIAN!
